The Saffron Hall, Saffron Waldon

HTS undertook the design, supply and installation of a complete performance system

package for the newbuild Concert Hall in Saffron Walden County High School completed in July 2013   HTS was retained by the School from the earliest stages to work with the Tooley & Foster Partnership and their electrical and mechanical services engineers to develop the design of all specialist elements for the Concert Hall Theatre rigging includes four centre grid mounted motorised hoists over-stage together with fixed suspensions and four tracks with hand winched support bars.  The stage lighting system is based on 130 hard-wired ETC dimmers including sine wave dimmers for the platform lighting. Thirty non-dim contactor modules were also provided to allow the use on non dimmable fittings. Lighting control is an ETC Congo desk with lanterns from ETC, Thomas and Selecon. 

The sound system incorporates a digital 16 channel mixer, with 2 D&B Audiotecnic speaker arrays three D & B foldback loudspeakers and six D&B pit infill speakers.  The system is complimented by four D&B rack mounted amplifiers. Communications includes a GDS stage manager’s control, Techpro ring intercom and show relay facilities.  In addition full paging and video to the Foyer from the control room and manager’s office. Drapes, borders and dim out curtains for the Concert Hall were also provided, together with a set of six moveable proscenium panels, three each side and a header curtain to, which allows the proscenium opening to be reduced in size.
